maybe my dream will come true

I nearly had palpitations when Ant showed me this the other night on the Armitage page. It's coming up for auction next Wednesday (19th) and I'm only hoping that anyone else there doesn't know how much a Singer Featherweight is worth, ie: up to $1,000 depending on what their condition is.

After work today I'll be stopping by for a look-see and to verify it's working condition, fortunately Armitage is only a hop-skip-jump away from my work. Also, unfortunately Armitage is only a hop-skip-jump away from Ant's work too - the man loves an auction! He wouldn't have told me about it and if he was the successful bidder would present it to me for my birthday, but he wasn't sure if it was a Featherweight and needed to check. So now my savings might suffer instead. Still, it's a worthy cause.

You'd think I'd have enough sewing machines by now, but this one is really the ultimate. It's interesting to note that in my Flickr account, The Thug has had the most views and I don't know why, as people haven't left any comments - go figure.

Well, better go. Got a sewing machine to drool over......

  1. Jen, I envy you. I would love to get a featherweight. For me right now, they are just to far out of my reach.

I do have two antique sewing machines. One is a Kohler Handcrank brought over from the Netherlands circa 1920's, and one is a Singer. The Singer is from the 30's or 40's. I bought it at a garage sale for $20, which included the cabinet. It needs some work to get it working. The wires are bare, so I haven't (and won't) attempt to plug it in. When my quilting room is finished, I'll work on it.

Be sure to let us know if you get it!

  2. Jen,

You got me curious... so I was checking out Featherweights on eBay.

I found one in Australia, if you are interested.

  4. LOL Jen...

A legend in my own mind... I bet that's what my hubby would say!

Our schools are now out for a 2 week spring break, which means no work for me... I am currently on-call with the school district. I need to get some more work to do more shopping. I had a demo on a serger today... I really really want one. And I also want a Singer Featherweight... and I also want an embroidery machine... and I want... and I want.

I'll fill you in on Monday, about my Friday, and this weekend. *wink*

Let me know if you find a machine!
